At Wine Country Lavender, we love celebrating local creatives and wellbeing innovators who bring calm, beauty, and nature into everyday life. In our Locals Loving Lavender series, we connect with people who share a love for this soothing bloom — from florists and artists to wellness practitioners and community leaders.
This week, we’re chatting with Cynthia, founder of The Wellbeing Collective in Singleton — a sanctuary for mind, body, and soul. Her space blends yoga, sound therapy, Reiki, massage, and wellbeing workshops to create a nurturing environment where locals can reconnect with themselves and the natural world. In this edition, Cynthia shares how lavender inspires calm in her wellness practices, her approach to holistic wellbeing, and how she’s cultivating a community space for healing and happiness.
Meet Cynthia from The Wellbeing Collective

"The Wellbeing Collective grew from my own lived experience of needing spaces that felt genuinely safe, nurturing, and human. Over the years, through yoga, energy work, sound, and my own healing journey, I kept coming back to the same truth, people don’t just need exercise or treatments, they need space to breathe, to soften, to feel seen, and to reconnect with themselves. I envisioned The Wellbeing Collective as a calm, grounded sanctuary where everyday people could step out of the noise of life and into something slower and more supportive. A place where the practice meets you where you’re at, whether that’s on the mat, on the massage table, or simply sitting quietly in a sound journey. From the beginning, it was never about perfection or performance. It was about creating a warm, inclusive space for nervous systems to settle, bodies to restore, and hearts to open. A place that blends movement, stillness, touch, sound, and intuitive care, all held within community."
When asked about the different modalities she practices, Cynthia explained:
Yoga supports strength, flexibility, breath, and awareness, helping people reconnect with their bodies in a gentle, conscious way.
Sound therapy works more subtly, using vibration and frequency to calm the nervous system and invite deep rest and integration.
Reiki offers energetic support, helping to clear blockages and restore balance, while massage brings it all back into the physical body through touch, easing tension and encouraging circulation and relaxation.
"What I love is how they meet people wherever they are. Some days someone needs movement. Other days they need stillness. Sometimes they need to talk, sometimes they just need to lie down and receive. Together, these practices support the whole person, body, emotions, energy, and mind, rather than treating things in isolation. It’s holistic in the truest sense, supporting real life stress, fatigue, transitions, and healing in a grounded, practical way.
Singleton has such a beautiful, down to earth community. What I love most is watching people walk through the door carrying the weight of their week, then leave feeling lighter, calmer, and more connected to themselves. There’s something really special about holding space for locals, seeing familiar faces return, witnessing friendships form in classes, and watching people grow more confident in caring for their own wellbeing. It feels deeply meaningful to offer a place where people can slow down, reconnect with their bodies, and remember that they matter too. The Wellbeing Collective isn’t just a studio, it’s a community hub for healing, rest, and real connection and I feel incredibly grateful to be part of that here in Singleton."
Cynthia's Wellness Practice

Cynthia creates every class or workshop with the intention of meeting people where they are. "I think about the nervous system, the seasons, and what people might need physically, emotionally, and energetically. For me, balance comes from creating a flow between movement, stillness, breath, sound, and reflection, a space where people can feel fully held. I like to layer practices so that even in a short session, there’s a sense of grounding, restoration, and lightness. For example, a yoga sequence might be followed by a guided relaxation or sound meditation, allowing the body and mind to integrate the work. I also weave in gentle prompts for mindfulness or journaling in workshops to help people connect with their own inner wisdom. It’s all about leaving people feeling calmer, clearer, and inspired to carry that sense of presence into their everyday life."
Cynthia loves the combination of yoga, sound, and Reiki because each speaks to a different part of us. Some of her favourite practices include:
🌿 Guided yoga flows that focus on breath, alignment, and subtle energy awareness
🌿 Sound journeys using crystal bowls, gongs, or tuning forks to help people release tension and drop into deep rest
🌿 Reiki sessions to restore energy balance and invite emotional clarity
"I also love weaving in seasonal themes, intention setting, and journaling prompts. It’s the little rituals…lighting a candle, pausing to breathe, taking a moment for reflection that help people carry calm and clarity off the mat and into daily life."
There are lots of ways to join in Cynthia's sessions and explore what resonates. People can:
🌿 Book into regular yoga classes or monthly themed workshops
🌿 Experience sound therapy journeys, Reiki, or massage in private sessions
🌿 Join collaborative events, retreats, or special wellbeing workshops with local practitioners
🌿 Work with us for tailored wellbeing sessions for groups, workplaces, or community projects
"I love keeping it flexible and accessible, so whether someone is dipping a toe into yoga for the first time or wants a deeper, more personalised session, there’s a way for them to engage and feel supported."
Lavender in Life & Practice
Lavender is a simple, yet profound way to bring calm and clarity into everyday life. In The Wellbeing Collective, Cynthia uses it in multiple ways, from fresh sprigs in the studio to soothing essential oils during sessions. "At home, I keep it nearby in little rituals: a cup of lavender tea to slow the morning, a few drops of essential oil on my pulse points, or simply the scent of dried lavender in a jar to invite softness and ease. It’s a gentle reminder to pause, breathe, and be present.
Lavender often features in workshops, yoga classes, and sound therapy sessions. For example, I might diffuse it during guided meditations or encourage participants to hold a small lavender sachet during journaling or reflection exercises. It’s a subtle but powerful way to support nervous system balance, deepen mindfulness, and create a sensory layer that enhances relaxation. I also sometimes incorporate it into small rituals, like setting an intention while inhaling its scent, to help people connect more fully with the practice and the moment."
Lavender reminds me that calm doesn’t have to be complicated, it’s about creating small, intentional moments throughout the day. It inspires the way I structure sessions too: gentle, grounded, and layered with sensory experiences that support rest, reflection, and integration. It’s a kind of anchor, both literally and energetically, that encourages balance and a sense of ease. In my personal practice, lavender is a touchstone for slowing down, noticing the little things, and staying connected to the present — a philosophy I carry into every class, workshop, and client session.

Upcoming Lavender & Wellness Sessions

Wine Country Lavender is collaborating with The Wellbeing Collective to bring you some unique experiences surrounded by nature, designed to inspire calm and connection. After a successful Sound Healing session last December with attendees saying "that was so relaxing and beautiful - let us know when the next one is scheduled!", we will be offering small group sessions from Autumn (once it cools down a bit!) as well as 1-1 sessions by appointment, to help you experience the healing power of lavender and learn techniques to bring mindfulness into your daily life, while connecting with nature.
Just as participating in mindful wellness exercises invites reflection and flow, lavender reminds us to slow down, breathe deeply, and enjoy the moment… whether in the studio, in the garden, or while sipping a cup of tea.
